A backlash is a gear intentionally provided to reduce tooth interference and ensure smooth rotation.  

However, the backlash has a negative impact in positioning accuracy due to effects of lost motion. By eliminating the backlash, there are an advantages in reducing play and improving positioning accuracy. On the other hand, when backlash is reduced to zero, the gear cannot rotate.   

The new product has a special spring inside the gear to maintain smooth rotation by reducing lost motion. As a result, positioning accuracy can be improved.
